1. Your Key Is Sticking, Hard to Turn, or Feels “Crunchy”
If your key doesn’t turn smoothly, it’s a sign the internal pins, springs, or cylinder are wearing down. A stiff or sticking lock often means
- internal components are failing,
- the lock is misaligned, or
- dirt and debris have built up inside the mechanism.
Why this is dangerous:
A lock that’s difficult to turn is easier for burglars to compromise. Weak internal pins can be snapped, bumped, or drilled with much less effort.
How to fix it:

2. The Door Handle Is Loose or Drooping
